At the end of November St. Anton gets the winter season off to a flying start with the traditional Wedel Weeks. From now on each month exudes its own particular charm, making the Arlberg a dream destination for all winter sports enthusiasts.

The Advent weeks hold out the promise of a romantic and peaceful winter experience. Christmas and New Year's Eve are a tremendous, carefree time full of romance and emotion.

With the start of February you can feel how the sun is already getting warmer and the days longer. While you can still dive into the flurries of powder snow on the northern slopes, firn snow has already begun to appear on the southern ones, thus opening up another new aspect of skiing. Easter, the Firn Weeks and the Snow Crystal Week until the start of May form a splendid conclusion to winter in one of the world's top skiing areas.

To where no lift leads

Get off the lift and strap your skis to your back? Only those intending to tackle the winter via ferrate will come up with such an idea. The entrance is just above the top terminal of the Riffelbahn- II lifts at 2,645 metres above sea level. Ski-touring fans can start the 850-metre long high alpine ridge crossing from here, secured in its entirety by steel rope. Weather permitting, views extend over the entire Verwallgruppe Mountain Range and Lechtal Alps - sometimes even as far as South Tyrol. The heart of every ski enthusiast will skip a beat once they arrive at the Rossfallscharte Ridge (2,732 metres), where the downhill run through backcountry terrain through the Montafon Valley to Pettneu, or via Moostal to St. Anton beckons. In addition to skis or a snowboard, climbing equipment with a belt, carabiner and touring boots are absolutely necessary for this tour. Those who do not have a ski pass pay € 17.50 for an ascent with the Rendlbahn lift to the via Ferrate. Those who prefer professional accompaniment as part of a guided tour, can book a guide from one of the St. Anton am Arlberg ski schools.
